We design peptide antigen from one protein for clients at $120 (UI users) or $150 (off-campus users). However, the fee is weaved if a client uses the peptide we design to make an antibody at the IRC. We can order peptides for clients to meet our antibody production requirements from Protein Science Facility (PSF) at the University of Illinois. Most of our peptide antigens are synthesized by the PSF. For peptide synthesis information, please check PSF website at ( http://www.biotech.illinois.edu/centers/Proteomics/Proteinscience/index.html).

If a client prefers to use other peptide synthesis service, make sure to meet the following requirements:

  1. Peptides have to be equal or longer than 8 amino acids. Twelve to fifteen amino acids peptides are preferred.
  2. Peptides containing non-terminal cysteine should be avoided.
  3. A cysteine residue must be present at either N-terminus or C-terminus for conjugation chemistry.
  4. A peptide should contain amino N-terminus and amide C-terminus.
  5. Five milligrams of peptides are required for a project.
  6. Peptide purity has to be ~90% pure.
  7. Peptides have to be provided with MS analysis and HPLC purification data.
  8. Peptides should be in solid phase and stored at -20°C after synthesis, and shipped to us by FedEx overnight service.
