Mouse Embryo Recovery

The Transgenic Mouse Facility will perform experiments to retrieve mouse lines from frozen embryos.
The procedure will include thaw and collect embryos, and surgically transfer embryos into the oviduct of pseudopregnant SPF female mice, using aseptic techniques.

To request service from Transgenic Mouse Facility:  

  • Schedule an appointment with facility Director, Fuming Pan (244-0649, fpan@illinois.edu) to discuss the project.
  • Complete and submit the Service Request Form to the facility for mouse embryo recovery.
  • For each line to be recovered, the investigator should provide at least 60 frozen embryos with health documents showing no pathogen infection.
  • The investigator will be responsible for the per diem starting the date of embryo transfer.
  • All the pups will be transferred to the investigator at three weeks old.
