Mouse Line Rederivation

The Transgenic Mouse Facility will perform experiments to clean a mouse line from pathogen infections. The procedure will include superovulation, mating, collection and transfer of  fertilized 1-cell embryos. The investigator is responsible for all the mouse purchase. Embryos are collected, washed to further reduce the risk of pathogen, and then transferred with aseptic techniques into the oviducts of pseudopregnant SPF females.  Upon weaning the pups, DAR will submit surrogate dams for diagnostic tests including bacterial and viral pathogen screening.

To request service from Transgenic Mouse Facility:

  • Schedule an appointment with facility Director, Fuming Pan (244-0649, fpan@illinois.edu) to discuss the rederivation project.
  • Complete and submit the Service Request Form for mouse line rederivation.
  • For each line to be rederived, the investigator should provide 5 proven breeder males, 5 females, 3-4 weeks of age.
  • The investigator will perform the hormone injections, breeding setup. The TMF staff will perform embryo harvest, washes and embryo transfers.
